I’m about to head into the studio to make a record. My first record, with my own band. It's been a long journey (check out my Bio Page for my musical history to put it all in context). I've reached a pivotal point at the right time with the right people.
And now we have an album we hope to record. It's called “Neurotica”. There’s some exploration of mental health-related subjects and my own neurotic thought patterns, hence the title. It’s rock, blue-eyed soul, and bluesy alt-rock with space to let all the players shine. Some songs are dark, and some light-hearted. Some are both: “I’m trying to get back on the horse without falling off the wagon”. There’s a lot of hopefulness, and also some love songs. “Walk Through It” is about EMDR and how walking helps one process things mentally. I use the metaphor of a bluebird being stuck on a screened-in deck flying around in circles to describe my own pacing and being stuck in looping thought patterns: “It went back, it went forth, never noticed the door."
We'll be recording at two of the best studios in town, Stages Music Arts and The Wood and Stone Room with co-producer Scott Smith!!!
Of course, music is mental health work. Our goal with this album is to spread messages of love - of being kinder to one another. Nothing is more powerful than the connection of hearts through music. Music is Therapy.
This album is a culmination of my history and the next part of my story; it's finally coming into my own as a writer, vocalist, and guitarist and partnering with some of the finest musicians in the region.
